New Fair At WEC A Resounding Success
With the new fair at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, near Leamington Spa , at dealer capacity, the excitement was building for the innaugural event on Sunday 7th March. The day brought these dealers an outstanding number of visitors. "With the amount of marketing put into this fair, we expected a good public attendance, but not even we would have predicted that almost 2,000 people would visit us!" commented Peter Barrows, Chairman of Nelson Events, the fair organisers. "Whilst the venue has a great capacity for public, at one point, we were worried that we would have to restrict access for a short while, to ensure we did not overcrowd the hall".
The general reception of the dealers was extremely positive. Susan Skelton of Hollytree China, Fakenham, Norfolk, stated "In my many years of fair attendance, I have never seen a first event at a new venue so well attended by both dealers and public." Jane Burgett of Salon Antiques, Wiltshire, added "Based on previous new fairs, we expected this one to be more of a marketing exercise. How surprised we were at the amount of furniture we sold! We have already rebooked for June!".
Focussed on the development of the fair at this venue, Barrows contunued "On the whole, the set up and breakdown went well. We would be lying if we said the weekend went without a hitch, however, as we now have a greater understanding of the venue and the logistics required, we will ensure that as many issues are overcome and corrected for the next fair on Sunday June 6th".
In the 48 hours since the fair, almost 30% of dealers have rebooked and several dealers new to Nelson Events have also confirmed their attendance at the second event.

Starting in 1999 with the Gresham's Aniques & Art Fair in Holt, Norfolk, Nelson Events Ltd has grown to become one of the major antiques, collectables, 20th century and art deco fair organisers in the UK.
In 2004, Nelson Events took over the management of the Newmarket Antiques, Collectables & 20th Century Fair at Newmarket Racecourse, Rowley Mile. This has now been built up to one of the largest events in the Suffolk/Cambridge region, being regularly oversubscribed by eager dealers. There are five dates in 2010.
In 2007 Nelson Events were asked to restart one of the UK's premier antiques & collectables event at Alexandra Palace, North London. From their first fair in April 2008, they have been steadily rebuilding this event to similar proportions of it's heyday, several years ago. There are four dates in 2010.
2010 saw the exciting launch of the Warwickshire Antiques, Collectables, 20th Century and Art Deco Fair, at the WEC, Leamington Spa. With four dates and circa 200 stalls/outside pitches, it is one of the biggest fairs in the region.
